Default I DiD it!

So I FINALLY got the courage to go to an interview and, although I walked out thinking "great I blew YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY in my pathetic life", I GOT THE JOB! Getting the job was the first hurdle, now I have to actually show up and communicate with a bunch of new ppl in a new/awkward situation! I start Monday and I am SOOOO nervous! I have to make sure to network with as many ppl as possible at this job and make as many positive references as possible so that when I move on It wont be as hard to find a job. BUT HOW AM I GONNA DO THAT WITH MY SAD?

YEAYYYYY!

you might laugh at the idea but put SAD outside your mind and don't think about it.

Fantastic news!!
concentrate on the fact that YOU DID THIS. You went to the interview, you got the job. YOu. If you can do that, then you can do this next step.
Focus outward, on the people around you. Really listen.

Congrats!

Congrats on landing the job!

Make an effort to extend yourself. Say Hello to everyone you pass who makes eye contact with you. Extend a handshake, a smile, and introduce yourself. If you can do this things will start to fall in place.

Thanx everyone for your support and advice!

I recently found this forum and though I usually dont respond (due to my SAD) It has really helped me just reading what other ppl have to say and knowing that Im not alone. Its crazy how some of my difficulites have been so identical to what others have gone through.

Ive been in this downward spiral for so long, with no self-confidence/self-esteem but getting this job has helped me believe in my self a little more and If I can be succesful here and make friends at the job it'll really help me as well.

Good work! Remember that they hired you for a reason. This doesn't mean that you HAVE to network with everyone the first day you get there, but you COULD network with whoever you want to over the course of the few months that they expect it will take for you to get into the groove (try not to think in all-or-none terms).

Tomorrow is the big first day and Im having SOOOO much anxiety right now! I know this is gonna be a sleepless night. Everyone that I have told is always like "OMG you must be soo excited" and Im just like yaaaaa" while on the inside im dying of anxiety. I wish I was just excited like all of the normal ppl out there :o(

Awesome. Just remember, as your getting acquainted with your new job and the dreaded co-workers, as you start to feel that anxiety, your mind is YOUR own, and you CAN control it with proper thoughts. Another thing I always try to remember is: "this too shall pass." Anything that helps, right?

Don't doubt yourself! Remember that there is obviously a reason why you got the job in the first place... Whoever interviewed you liked you and knows you can do the job!
