Social Anxiety Support

Some decent progress today. Got on the bus, went to the barbers for a trim (which I've done before, but only because it really needed doing), got a bus back and walked home from the bus stop in the pouring rain without a coat (ironically, it stopped raining as soon as I got home, stupid weather). I made small talk with the barber too while I was having my hair sorted, without any difficulty or anxiety. I'd always assumed I was just bad at making conversation or small talk and that it wasn't just anxiety, but it looks like it's really just anxiety that holds me back in this area. I didn't really initiate the conversation, but I still talked quite a bit.

After 2 months of therapy I can: go for walks on my own, go to the corner shop on my own, buy stuff that gets me carded by the shopkeeper, sort out my sleep pattern, get on a bus on my own, get my hair trimmed on my own, cook for myself instead of forcing my mum to do it for me (not really an achievement, if I was left on my own I'd do it anyway, but doing other goals gives me the motivation to cook).

My next goals in no particular order are to go to the gym on my own, get the bus into town/go on a longer bus journey on my own, get on a train on my own, go shopping on my own, go to a club on my own, learn to drive, learn to make small talk with complete strangers at random (the barber is stranger but it's not really random).

Ultimately my goals are to find a job, go to college, or go to a music school (that's my dream). Of course I want to make more friends and find a girlfriend as well but those things will probably come naturally if I make more of an effort to talk to people, get more confidence and find some setting in which to make friends (like work or college), so I'm just going to focus on other things and wait for friends/partners to fall into place naturally.
