Melbourne Group Therapy at Swinburne University
People with social anxiety may feel that they will be criticized by other people or feel that they will say or do something that will humiliate or embarrass themselves. In social situations, those who are socially anxious may experience physical symptoms of anxiety including blushing, sweating, trembling, confused thoughts, muscular tension, and stomach problem and even panic attacks. Although people recognise their reactions to a social situation as excessive and extreme, they can't seem to do anything about them.
The social anxiety group program caters for people suffering from mild to serious anxiety and is suitable for people who wish to better understand and control their fears within a small, supportive group environment. If these fears and responses sound familiar to you and if they impact on you on a daily basis then you may benefit from the program offered by Swinburne.
The Social Anxiety group program is an 8-session group program which offers a cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) approach to dealing with social anxiety. Sessions are run on a weekly basis and tend to run from 6pm-9pm.
