Our research study is a joint project in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at Stanford University. We are examining how different people think, or process information. We hope the knowledge we obtain will lead to a better understanding of the difficulties that people face and eventually to improved treatments for emotional disorders. In practical terms, this study would have several parts: First, we would conduct a short 20 minute telephone interview which would help determine whether it would be appropriate for interested people to participate in the study, as well as answer any questions that people might have. Participants in our study must be females between the ages of 18 and 59, be US citizens or non-citizens with a green card, and have not had problems with alcohol or other substances in the past 6 months. Then if it were appropriate, we would them to come to Stanford University to meet with a researcher and participate in a more detailed interview that would cover several aspects of their history as well as their current thoughts and feelings. At that time, we would also ask them to fill out some questionnaires. This session takes approximately 2 hours, and we would pay $25 per hour for participating.
