As Christians we are in a spiritual warfare. When you think of war, like many people you think of missiles, guns, bombs, etc. A spiritual warfare is similar in some ways but not as obvious as a literal as an all out literal war on a certain country or group. It’s really invisible. ‘For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning strongly entrenched things. ‘For we are overturning reasonings and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God; and we are bringing every thought into captivity to make it obedient to the Christ.’ 2 Corinthians 10:4, 5 ….We have a wrestling not against blood and flesh but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 Our spiritual warfare involves our fight to trust and have faith completely in God. (See Proverbs 3:5-7) A spiritual warfare can also be compared to a runner in a race. He wants to win but his main goal is really to finish the race-to get to the finish line. He may fall along the way, get scrapes, bruises and bumps, but he gets back up and continues. This means we will all, in a sense, stumble along the way in our fight to the finish. The main thing is that we get up-that’s what counts. ‘Do you not know that runners in a race all run but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may attain it.’ 1Corinthians 9:24 So it is not so much you actually win first place etc but that you just finish. Ways to Keep Fighting Your Personal Spiritual Warfare · Pray to God daily. (more than once) · Read your Bible daily if possible. · Resist the temptation to do things you might regret later. · Avoid abuse of alcohol or drugs. · Be honest with yourself and with others. · Dress modestly and you will make a good impression on others -they will respect you more and you will gain more self-respect. · Avoid cheating. You hurt yourself and others and God. · Fight negative and hurtful thoughts. (please see above 2 Corinthians 10:4, 5) · Get involved in activities that keep your mind off yourself even if it is taking out the garbage or doing work on the yard or volunteering for others. You may not believe it but the Devil is crafty. He wants you to lose. He even wants you to think you can never succeed, but he is wrong. He is the father of the lie. He may use your low self worth against you. Don’t believe him. ‘When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie.’ John 8:44b part Yes, we do have an enemy. One we can’t see but if we fight and “see” him for who and what he is we can come off a winner. ‘Finally go on acquiring power in the Lord and in the mightiness of his strength. Put on the complete suit of armor from God, that you may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil.’ Ephesians 6:10, 11 Remember these spiritual weapons: · Loins girded · Breastplate of righteousness · Feet shod · Large shield of faith (with which you will be able to quench all the wicked ones burning missiles.) · Helmet of salvation · Sword of the spirit (God’s word) (Taken from Ephesians 6:14-17) Remember that little "voice" that tell you otherwise is wrong! You are important and you count! This is my everyday fight. If we do all these things we can succeed. God and his word the Bible is much stronger than the Devil. So with these weapons we are sure never to fail!
