Probably not. I mean I guess it'd be nice to feel like you're a part of something for once, and to not be totally invisible to everyone. But at the same time, I'm so used to being alone and having my private space, it would just feel really claustrophobic after awhile. If it was guaranteed that I would like and get along really well with everyone there, then maybe - but that would be pretty close to impossible for me.

Yes, I think it would be fun for a while. I'm not sure how long I would want to do it though.

Nope. Too much interaction with strangers. Also some communes end up being abusive and controlling.

That is what I was thinking as well. I actually wouldn't mind building a house off the grid if I didn't have to work.

No. I had to visit a few communes when I was in high school and I thought they were pretty creepy. I'm too much of an individualist for that kind of life.

Seems a little too hippie for my taste.

There are off grid communes around. I was reading about it in popular mechanics. Most of the food is grown or raised within the commune and electicity is often generated via wind and solar. You can buy a solar panel and wind generator off the internet. Sunforce makes solar panels and the wind turbine that I saw was made by southwest windpower.
