Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

The main reason I post this is because I'm curious if SAers tend to lean one way or the other. My guess is that it will be pretty even, but who knows...

left leaning independent.
not sure what that would mean now, since neither party stays with an ideology.

Strong Democrat. The only time I would ever split with the Democratic party would be if there was a strong socialist candidate, which will probably never happen.

I don't identify with either of them (voted in the middle).

I am pulling for the Democrats in this election, though.

Re: Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

SAS has always been more democratic.

Personally, I put leaning democrat.

I would love to vote republican, but even the maverick of the party, can't accept certain things that I hold as fundamental. Basically, philosophically I believe in republican ideals but when it comes to the issues, they let me down. To me it comes down to neither party actually voting for what their stated beliefs are. Thats why a two party system sucks for lack of a better word or lack of wanting to use a better word.

Any one that says they have a strong belief in one of two of the parties, to me proves the system has failed. I would never say I support one of these parties strongly. I see way to many people walk the party line as they say to support such a system.

Thats why I usually say I'm liberal instead of a democrat. I don't believe everything they do, but for me they are the lesser of the two evils.

Re: Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

I wouldn't hesitate to vote Democratic if I knew the candidate was the one, though. I am registered as a Republican.

Re: Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

I'm registered as an independent but I consider more conservative than liberal so I always vote Republican. I chose leaning Republican because I don't fit in with the far right religous zealots.

Some issues I am conservative and some issues I am liberal. I always split my ticket and I will be really doing that this year.

Re: Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

I don't support either party, they have both lost their way and are in much need of a total overhall.

They say you gave yourself away for a moment
But no one would take you
You said, I'm alive, but you're dead
Cause nothing about you is new
Even though you had been diagnosed
And were given the new antidote
And were numb to the rain and the soaking
You have been and always will be broken

Re: Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

I would characterize myself as an independent more than anything else. I focus on the candidate, not their party, and
the pressing issues around election time.

I'm a strong libertarian, but given that I'm only give the choice between really bad & even worse, I lean Republican.

I'm a registered Independent but I vote Democrat.

The rage increases fast
As the memories eat me alive
God, I wish this to end
But I'm not prepared to die
No more a human being
Just a fool of anxiety
Unable to escape
