How long should guests stay at your place?

Company is coming! I would never want to overstay my welcome, but know there are people who would move in indefinitely as a guest. So, how long should people stay at your place before you go nuts and kick them out?

Canucklehead 07-22-2013 01:47 PM

Unless they are family or really close friends, anything longer than a weekend is too much.

Amethyst Forest 07-22-2013 03:17 PM

It would depend on the guest in question. There are some people who would start to really get on my nerves after a few days, while others are pleasant to be around for longer periods of time. But as for when I'll actually decide to come up with an excuse as to why they have to leave, that would also depend on how much trouble they had to go through to visit me, as well as the above. No matter how awesome the guest, though, I would eventually need my own space (alone time) again, probably after a couple of weeks. So my answer would range anywhere from a day or two (if they're particularly annoying or obnoxious) to a few weeks (family/close friends).

Ideally, never. Unless it's an extraordinary case like my friends becoming homeless for whatever reason, I don't like it when anyone is in my home besides the usual inhabitants. It's my parents' house so obviously they can have whoever they want over, but if/when I get my own place one day, I expect to be the only one who steps foot in there aside from visits that are < half a day -.-

For as long as you invited them?

Soundboy 07-22-2013 05:38 PM

Two weeks a guest. After that your a pest

alenclaud 07-22-2013 05:53 PM

I'm not comfortable with it, in any way. I'll let them stay as long as necessary if there's an emergency situation, and supply my generosity to a certain extent in normal situations. But after a week I just start wishing that that guest would go visit another home or just move to a hotel.
I'd also expect a guest to help out while he/she stays, and not simply use all my things with disregard to everything else.

I have guests who invite themselves! :|

Raeden 07-23-2013 07:13 PM

It depends, but I generally wouldn't invite someone to my house to stay for more than a few hours except in extraordinary circumstances.

Ideally, nobody will be in my house after I move out. If someone wants to see me, then they can meet me in a public place.

PandaBearx 07-23-2013 07:27 PM

Normally just a few hours or a day unless something happened where they need a place to stay I've had someone stay over for a month once.

Auroras 07-23-2013 07:33 PM

I laugh. Although I know it's fair to say, a couple of days to a week, but I voted for 1 day and get the hell out :no

Just Lurking 07-23-2013 07:37 PM

The first option is a day???

:troll :troll :troll :troll :troll

I'm tired after an hour.

How about - I'll chip in for a hotel.

AmandaMarie87 07-23-2013 07:40 PM

Depends on how far they had to travel. If they only live a couple of hours away (by car), one day would suffice. If they live say 7 or 8 hours away or if they traveled out of province/country 3-4 days would be acceptable.

RadioactivePotato 07-23-2013 08:45 PM

A few days at the most

NoHeart 07-23-2013 09:48 PM

Not at all.

RelinquishedHell 07-23-2013 09:52 PM

What guests?

Nekomata 07-24-2013 03:24 PM

Never. We never have guests here anyway... and if there are any they should generally be gone within a matter of hours <.<;

typemismatch 07-24-2013 03:30 PM

I would say an hour. It doesn't take more than an hour to chop them up, and get the freezer going.

AlchemyFire 07-24-2013 10:56 PM

Guests should never stay at my house -_- Unless I really really like them, in that case they can stay a day. It would take someone real special for me to want them there longer.

whiterabbit 07-27-2013 05:00 PM

People* who come to my place tend to stay for around ten minutes on average. They don't seem to want to stay any longer, perhaps because they can tell that I don't want them to stay any longer. Never would be my option. My place is for me to be alone in and nothing else.
