I don't know what people's problems are, especially people online!

So, I write a comment on a marilyn manson interview on youtube, okay? I said he's got some good music but he's way too weird and goofy for me. I said I didn't like some of the THINGS he did, but I also said I respected him as a musician.

So somebody sends me an email, saying I suck **** and am an anal retarded retard.

I took the insults with a grain of salt. I emailed him back and we exchanged words, but I never cussed at him or degraded him. I thought this arguement would stay between us?

Wrong!

I have several videos on youtube. Now, on the display page, every video I have now has only HALF A STAR when there were 3, 4, or 5.

That REALLY angered me. Now I'm cursing at him and threatening to report him to youtube.

Those videos, and the ratings, were very important to me, and this happens ONLY because I disagreed with someone? EVEN when I said I like Manson's music?

I had gothic friends in HS who always got bullied.

Now I see why they did.

It's Youtube. There's a 98% chance you were corresponding with a racist, uneducated twelve year old. Seriously, don't get worked up about it.

Theres always going to be people like that. It could have been a 10 year old spoiled undisciplined rich kid for all you know. We are talking about the internet here, anything is possible.

Don't let it get to you. Worry about reality, not what some idiot thinks online.

Reporting him might get his account banned or suspended. Will only take him a minute to make a new one. Gotta love the internet.

If there's one thing I learned about the internet, particulary message boards (other than this one), is not to trust or listen to 99.9 percent of people on it. People can talk big all they want in the confines of a room with a keyboard in front of their face.

Reading YouTube comments is almost hilarious sometimes. People go off and start arguments about politics and racism and other irrelivant crap just on some random music video. The comments section should just be deleted from now on.

This message board is probably the only one I've ever ran into that I can stand. There are never any trolls or people starting arguments (most of the time) like you see on 99% of other forums. People rarely put each other down here, and everyone for the most part is very respectful of one another.

Just ignore him......if somebody won't listen and stays stuck in the same ignorant rant over and over, I just "shake the dust of my feet" so to speak. Everybody won't be considerate or like you or your opinions and as unfortunate as it is in some cases, it's something we have to deal with

The only value on the internet, is entertainment. Morals, intelligence, creativity will only be respected if they are entertaining enough. The only way to deal with these people is to sink to their level. Which really is like losing more if you think about. Generally speaking I adjust my personality to the community and to survive on youtube, you need to sink pretty low.

I don't have any uploads on youtube, but if I did, I'd probably make a separate account to make any comments. Otherwise people will get petty and try to punish you unfairly like happened to you.

That is why I rarely make a comment on youtube, but hey about the half a star rating thing, I dont think its them I think its youtube's update thing because all my videos magically have half a star where earlier they had five stars, hopefully it'll be fixed in the morning so your videos will be back to normal.

Everytime I watch a video on youtube, I can't help but notice just how much random trolling there is in the video comment section. No matter what video I watch, I can without fail guess that there will be some big flame war dominating the comments about the video, most of them completely nonsensical, and attacking towards the person above them, with a poorly spelled, and mostly illogical insult. So in short I wouldn't worry about it.

There's more than a grain of truth in that statement.

I guess also that a medium like youtube offers people a chance to propagate spite and hatred in a way that just wouldn't be tolerated in the real world - which is possibly why cyber bullies tend to be so prolific and vocal.

I have a few videos on youtube but so far nobody has left any negative remarks. The rants and raves section of craigslist is another place thats filled with *******s. I read it sometimes out of boredom and am amazing by how rude and hateful people can be. They are like a pack of hungry wolves just waiting for the slightest sign of weakness so they can pounce and tear their victim to shreds. I've seen many innocent posts by someone who wanted to vent about having their bike stolen, etc. which are followed by about 20 responses filled with profanity and insults directed at the original poster.
