Default I'm scared something bad is going to happen

I'm not really sure how to explain this, but I'm worried something bad is going to happen, not just to me, but to the world. I have a gut feeling that I can't explain, that makes me think there's going to be a massive war, or natural disaster, or anything really that will completely destroy the lives of many people including me and people I know. It just seems to me with all of the wars and natural disasters happening outside of the UK, it seems to me as if it's our turn, which I know doesn't really make sense. I suppose I feel kind of guilty that nothing really bad has happened to the UK, and I'm worried something will, or something will happen that basically destroys the whole world, like a nuclear war or something. I can just always imagine it happening in the next month or something, and it doesn't seem far-fetched or anything, and it seems as if I wouldn't be surprised. It seems the world has moved more quickly in the last year or so than it has before.

Does anyone else ever feel like this?

This must me related to the Norway incident and the recent wars.
This is actually good news for us since this signifies that the world is going to end soon and we don't have to suffer any longer from our S.A driven lives.

i have that feeling too, it seems like everything is reaching its peak.

i know this sounds crazy but everything is going down in price like ipods, laptops, games. First black president, osama killed, etc. All happening around 2012, it just gives me that feeling like the end is almost here. i know it doesnt make sense, but o well

I was a teenager in the 1980's and always worried that we were going to launch a nuke war with the Soviets or the Soviets wold launch one against us. In either scenario both will lose. Also, you had movies like the Day After, Special Bulletin, etc. on tv scarring the heck out of people.

yooper: you closed school for three feet of snow?!?!??!?

I think you are explaining GAD = general anxiety disorder. I have this more than SAD. Constant irrational fear

I think everyone might feel this, but most are capable of putting it to the backs of their minds. I'm not so worried about such a thing happening, i don't care if it did. What my mind grabs onto is how I would deal with having to get help from neighbors whom I've openly avoided, etc. Would I be able to work with others or would I have to go off on my own to my own demise.

I've dealt with having catastrophic thoughts. I have gad as well as sa.
My fears are mostly health related..I fear something terrible will soon happen to myself or my loved ones. I fear severe prolonged pain and suffering. For some reason, world ending events don't scare me much. I guess I have a hard time believing that it will actually happen in my lifetime.
I try to distract myself and keep busy with other things, but it's not always to escape those thoughts.

I live close to oslo, and I can't say I was affected at all by the slaughter.

Why? why don't I feel upset or sad about this?

I used to worry about this, mainly because I was raised in a religion that constantly talked about armaggedon and what not. They would associate every natural disaster, war, blah blah with a sign that the "end" was coming. But after a while I just sat back and thought about it.

There has been wars for thousands of years, there have been natural disasters for thousands of years, and there will continue to be that for the rest of my life. It isn't a sign that things are going to end, it's just the world and something we have no control over. So once I stopped thinking religiously and more rationally I started to get over my fear of "the end of the world".

I thought there was no such thing as natural disasters, in the UK....

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I highly doubt the end will come in your lifetime... I heard Earth will die in like billions and billions of years, in some book I read....

lol, something tells me this reply just made it worse..... Sorry!

Earth wont die until the sun dies out in a couple trillion (God that word sounds ridiculous... maybe hundred billion?) years, I think. (Going from memory)

You experience anxiety. It is understandable after Oslo. It will get less again.

No natural desaster will happen.
