Like stand up, introduce yourself, and say one interesting fact about yourself. I know they are supposed to "break the ice," but I always felt worse, especially since I feel pretty boring and never have anything interesting to say. It's pretty irrational I start worrying about this days before it even happens.

try to memorize the names and all the facts you can about the others, that might distract your anxiety
also this way when you cross in the hallways with one of your classmates, you can go "hey, you are mike right?" people will be pleasingly surprised you remember their names, you can have a conversation going, and who knows, maybe even make some friends... |
