Well usually if your working shows that you understood the process of solving the problem, you'll get most of the marks for the question even if the final answer is wrong. I remember a few times in maths exams I'd get 5 marks for a 6 mark question where my working was correct, but I'd just made a simple arithmetic mistake somewhere and ended up with the wrong answer.

This is exactly the situation I was in last year. I was taking ap calculus, and despite studying all night before the first test, I did horribly (at least by my high standards which probably were also part of the problem). From then on, my academic anxiety took hold and I did horribly the rest of the year. I developed a pattern of avoiding school work that has carried into this year. I can confidently say I worry and think about my classes and the work that goes along with them more than every other student, but I do the least amount of work.

I'm kind of the same way with tests. I took a test yesterday and thought I did fairly well, but it was the opposite. Usually, if you show your work you'll get partial credit even if the answer is wrong.

I hear you. In middle school and high school I was an A and B student, but I regularly got Cs, Ds, and even Fs on my math tests.

Some people just aren't good test takers. They can get perfect grades but fail a test. That's a form of anxiety as well. As for me, I am terrible at math. It really intimidates me and when I was in school I got A's in everything and D's and F's in Math.

I hate it also. I just don't have a mathematical brain at all. I have to take like two or three math oriented classes before I'm done with my current college, and every time I register for classes I make sure and put off the math stuff for as long as I can because I'm so scared I'll outright fail.
