Friends who cancel plans

In the past week, I've had six different "friends" cancel plans with me. I'm thinking maybe these people aren't really friends, they are just aquaintances, and I am taking the plan overly seriously, like if someone says, do you want to get together this weekend, and I say sure, and they say "I'll call you" and they never do, maybe they never meant it in the first place. Maybe I am taking these plans too literally, but it makes me wonder why this is happening. And it also tells me that I never ever ever could have a party because I could invite 30 people and probably no one would show up.

"I'll call you" probably means "I expect you to call me repeatedly and ask about it" for a lot of people.

Yeah, I've wondered sometimes if someone says they'll call me and then don't, if it was a test to see if I was interested enough in hanging out to call them and find out what's going on.

When someone says they will call and they don't and then I call and say do you still want to hang out and then it becomes clear in the conversation that they didn't really mean it in the first place, I feel like such a loser.

Yeah, this happens to everyone, but for me it's worse since I tend to hold grudges and I'll start ignoring them afterwords. I should probably stop doing that.
