I don't know why I even bother going on it anymore. Every time I go on, I will take 2 minutes looking at conversations my friends are having with each other. Then I look at my profile page only to notice no one wrote on it. Then I get depressed.

Sometimes I'll just leave myself signed in for about an hour hoping that someone will chat with me. Rarely does this happen...

Gotta put yourself out there to be accepted do you post on their walls? I don't but then again I use facebook mostly for games and the occasional message.

I deleted my facebook account yesterday, I was quite social on it but it made me think too much about my relationships with certain people, which gets me depressed. Im just going to use MSN from now on.

Add ppl from highschool, if you are not in highschool NE more, whom u think may be receptive to re-connecting, and strike up general conversation with them n see if you get positive responses. It's alot easier than doing this in person so go for it. Some people you may think may not think much of you or think you were weirdly quiet, but you have a chance to conversate with them in a different setting under different circumstances, and just ask how they are. There's not much to lose. You dont even hav to b in the same room with them.

I made a facebook to snoop up on other people's facebooks....big mistake. Makes me depressed everytime i see how exciting other people's lives are compared to mine.

Bottom line: Avoid facebook. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid!! I don't even know why i torture myself by logging on it and checking out people's pictures/wall in the first place! Ugh.

It does make me depressed. My facebook is like empty, i have people "friends" on there, i don't upload pics or anything. I don't even log on much. Don't know why i made one. But i guess it's good to get a real view of what my life is right now. I have to accept where i am and where i stand socially.. so i won't delete mine.

But yes : avoid snooping on others lives. Better to delete it altogether than do that. I spent a lot of time one day trying to look up people from my school etc. and see what they're doing now. BIG MISTAKE. I still get depressed if i think about it.

i don't even have a facebook because i'm so incredibly isolated from everyone, no one would even notice/think about me or have any clue who i was if i tried to add them.

and i'm afraid people would see how much of a friendless loser i really am.

Story of my life. I was asked 2 times by people if I have an account and it turns out that I deleted my account last year because of staring at the empty wall. I only found one h/s friend that was it.

I have face book but only because my entire family including my parents had one and some of the games on their looked kind of fun. So now I have a bunch of friends on there for the games but none I really talk to or know. It's really depressing when your father has more online friends and connections than you do.

See, i would just delete my FB account if it was depressing me. if it bothers you that much, then just dont log on, or deactivate it. I know exactly how people feel on this thread - comparing your lives to others/ looking through other ppls fotos, been there done that and it aint nice. Seriously, just delete the account! your not obliged to be on a site like FB, no matter what 'society norms' dictate to you!

I'd like to deactivate it but I don't want friends/cousins that i don't speak to often to think that I deleted them. It can be depressing but i just never visit anymore unless somebody write on my wall.

It can be useful sometimes. I don't meet many people at all, but at least when I do it's a good way to keep in contact with them.

This is the reason I haven't gone on facebook for so long (at least 6 months). People on there must assume I'm dead by now.
It also depresses me, I compare myself to others on there, their happy smiling faces, their alcohol, etc.

doesn't make me depressed, but i don't really want to show everyone my personal life either. I don't take that site seriously. just for staying in touch with friends and socializing. just don't care what everyone else thinks imo.

I check it to see what's going on with people, but I'm not very active there. I'm not concerned that it makes it look like I have no social life or anything because what it really looks like is that I'm not wasting all my time on facebook.

My birthday came around. 1 person responded to my wall. My sister wished me happpy birthday. I have 160 "friends" on facebook.

There was a guy who had the same birthday as mine, so I wished him a happy b-day 2 days before, and the jack *** wrote "you are way too early" on my wall.

I know its minor, and its kinda childish. But is it really that hard to wish someone happy b-day on their wall?

This girl on my friends list had people wishing her happy b-day a week before her birthday even came around. LOL.
