Can't get excited about anything?

Literally nothing gets me riled up and excited. I'm supposed to go off-roading with my "so called friends" tomorrow and everyone is excited about it, but I could honestly care less. It's just "whatever" to me. I know I should feel excited when I'm gonna do something fun, but I feel total indifference. I never feel anticipation for anything. Can anyone relate?

yeah I can relate, when I go out with my "friends" it feels like a job, somehing I have to do because friends are supposed to do things together, but I couldnt care less, most of the time I'm just waiting for the activity to end so I can go home again.

It sucks, It really makes me wonder I do I have/want friends in the first place?

Lately, I have been avoiding going out, I guess I'm trying to be true to myself, If I dont't feel like going out, why should I force myself?

... however, that is exactly what avoidant personality disorder is, but meh! I dont really care

me too, I've been this way for a long time, it's only worse now, remember I went to Niagra Falls as a teenager and I was like " we came all of this way to look at water?"

I envy those who can get all amused at looking at something like that, or looking at the ocean..to be thrilled over simple things would be too good..lucky people.

I know that feeling exactly. Whenever someone points something interesting out to me, I actually feel slightly confused. I just pretend to agree with them and act like I think it's cool too.

I'm on the verge of making up an excuse to not go right now. I'm only doing it to keep them from hating me. I know they could honestly care less if I went or not though.

Perhaps you need to re-evaluate the friends you have.. if you find them generally uninteresting and boring, it becomes pretty difficult to get excited about doing activities with them.

Doth the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise.

No I can't relate to this one!
Off-roading sounds awesome! I've only been off-roading once or twice with an old friend a few years ago in his dad's Land Rover.. My idea of fun

That symptom is generally referred to as anhedonia, the inability to feel thrill, or pleasure. Generally happens when you are depressed. I have it too, and I wish I could feel alive instead of feeling dull.

Yes. Apparently I've always been like this, my parents say I was the most apathetic child ever and they wondered whether I actually liked things like getting presents and trips to disneyland because all the other kids would go batsh*t crazy over stuff like that and I was just so 'ehh' about it all. it's not that I don't get excited and look forward to things, I just maybe don't get as excited as other people. Like when you see those girls who scream over things like seeing their friend or because their boyfriend bought them something, I seriously don't understand that. Nothing can be that exciting. Also I'm just terrible at showing emotions. Idk... I guess sometimes it's just a personality trait

I am tired of Earth. These people. I am tired of being caught in the tangle of their lives

I feel the same way. I never want to do anything and I can be quite cynical when I do go out...which is rare these days

I haven't felt excitement for anything at all since I went to Six Flags a year ago......

I just want to be happy and have someone love me for who I am and not who I pretend to be.....

Women are out there looking for men that will talk to them and make the first step to a relationship. Its too bad I just cant make that "first step".

You need to try out new things. You never know you might actually like it.

No real desire too.

I'm especially depressed now because I had to do something that I didn't want to do, but had to do.

It's that feeling of feeling ungrateful for not "trying to enjoy yourself" at your cousin's barbecue, that feeling of wanting to become a castaway on a desert isle and say you tried your best while you spend the rest of your doing what castaways do best - nothing. So yeah, I know that feeling.

I just went out for sushi with my cousins tonight and I felt horribly depressed the entire time. I started tearing up at the table and had to pretend I was yawning. Whenever I spoke up and said something, I just got ignored. I told them I felt sick and went home. Now I am sitting here on SAS feeling like the piece of scum that I am, knowing that I will never be as good as anyone else and never be able to connect with people.

Just looking around the restaurant and seeing all the happy couples and people laughing and having conversations with each other made me want to die.
