Unhappy Alone on a friday night, again

I would rather be anxious and with other people than be alone on a Friday night. It just reminds me that I am not like normal people that have things to do on Friday nights. That thought makes me feel really bad about myself and depressed. I feel like I should be making more progress.

Is it healthier to have no friends or to go out and cause a ruckus on your wallet and your liver ?

BTW: I chose healthier but only after 3-5 years of heavy boozing and smoking.

id say no friends. i drink maybe 1 beer a fortnight at home just to relax, compared to my very distant clubbing/partyign friends who drink on average at least 10 a week. needless to say my liver will be in tip top condition when im 40. cant say the same for my clubbing buddies though

Alcohol helps my SA (only drank it like five times, but it always helped), so If I find a balance between suppressing my SA, and still keeping my liver functioning that would be great. lol

i completely agree, it works the same way for me too. a few beers helps loosen the tongue (whilst not being drunk) = no SA

I don't think you need to drink to be happy, but being alone on a friday night, sometimes it beats being with someone worse off than yourself.

It seems to be a popular belief on this site that friends equal heavy drinking and partying. There are LOTS of other things you can do with friends, and if there are not, you're hanging out with the wrong people.

A drink never fails to make me happy. But I spend almost all of my Fridays alone at home. It's just that the friends I have don't drink, I am not friends with the people who drink and I don't like to goto the pub alone. I think it's for the best because if I had a friend who drinks i would go out almost everyday with her and end up an addict.

Frankly, staying in your room is a lot better than out there with the wrong crowd. It just sucks to be with a bunch of people you don't fit-in with for the sake of going out

I went out on a Saturday night a few weeks back. It was the first time in a long long time. It felt very uncomfurtable

i was out on fri night and a girl actually told me she thought it was cool that i was out by myself. which i actually thought was nice of her to say. i think a lot of people cant muster up the courage to go out by themselves. ive pretty much become accustomed to being a loner lol.

of course i was pretty blitzed at that point in the night. booze does help the best for SA but unfortunately i cant drink all day and hangovers suck too.
