Social Anxiety Support

Hello,

I read a lot of threads about people who are sad about not being able to interact with people they are romantically/sexually interested in. Especially since tomorrow is the awful "holiday" called Valentine's Day.

But when I was lurking at another board (extroverted likely), I see plenty of threads year round about people's frustration about being with their current partner. They vent about the smallest mundane insignificant issues about their daily lives.

Being the negative thinker I can sometimes be, I couldn't help imagining having a partner something I would take for granted. Because let's face it, I don't know how lucky I am about other things in life. How is being in a relationship any different from other facets of my life? Having a GF will not stop me from miserable thanks to SA.

No matter how great things can be, I will still be unhappy. Being in a relationship would be too much for me.

So...in short...I am glad to be single because I don't have to deal with a partner/GF.

Having a partner isn't the end and be all of the SA cure. I am sure many SAers who are married or in a relationship can agree with me.

I am trying to be positive about being single here. Bear with me.

You're right there! I'm engaged, but I developed SA whilst I was with my fiance, so although I am lucky, it doesn't stop my SA, which is quite severe because I can't leave the house alone.

& Positive thinking is good

well, i think you can and will find happiness if you search deep enough for it; it doesn't have to be being with a significant other. it can come from you, and it should come from you. you've been happy before, so just harness that groove and don't let it go.
well, you feel miserable, that's ok, but i remember a quote..
"and the time came where the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"
what's positive about being single? you get more in tune with yourself and at the same time you'll be in tune with the world.
Valentine's day sometimes is just another day for some and not for others. everyone has their time, so don't worry about it.. (=
and you are lucky because there are always others more unfortunate than you. i hope that helps.

I must admit I am a little sad today since I am single but its ok. I ain't going to stress over it. Besides there is a reason why all my married friends tell me how lucky I am I guess.

I would also only want to take a girl that means something to me out on this day, it can't be just anyone.
