It depends on the situation... Just try to think about anything that isn't about the anxiety, to stop it from being worse

I like to believe on some subtle level it does - I really wish it would embolden me more than it does though.

I believe so, it's just difficult to think to think positive when your mind is racing with negatives.

Not with my anxiety no, but staying positive through my depression and fighting on, instead of giving up has on some level helped me.

It depends on the situation but usually positive thoughts alone are not enough to get me through when I'm anxious. I need to either walk away from a situation or physically do something, go for a run, take a shower..

Sometimes it helps me. I have three strategies for dealing with anxiety at the moment. 1. Is to challenge the anxiety. To do this i had to really think about what I was afraid of. One example is that this woman at a wendy's drive through started noticing me a while back. I would drive out of my way or change where I got fast food because I thought she saw me as some pathetic fatty. The truth is that, that is how I see me. Well yesterday I saw her for the first time in months. She commented, for the second time, on me cutting my dreadlocks off. Now if she really just saw me as a fatty why would she make a comment about my hair after months of not seeing me. I doubt they actually talk about me in the store. I work in a coffee shop and yes we talk about customers. If its something negative we stop talking about it minutes after the customer has left. We really only talk about the nice customers non stop because we admire them for various reasons. This makes me think she might actually like me. Had I not challenged the idea that everyone thinks i am a pathetic fatty I would have never come to that positive conclusion. My second strategy is to think about my positive attributes. Maybe that person is looking at me because they find me attractive. I am not hot at all. I am far from ugly and I might just what some people want. I have also been told I am funny and nice. Sometimes when I get nervous I try to remember that getting attention can be a good thing. People probably do like things about me and value me. My last strategy is consider that if I believe someone doesn't like me that it may not be about me at all. How many people have I scolded at because I was anxious and afraid. How do I know this person doesn't have SA or just had a really bad fight with a loved one. That doesn't make them or me bad. It just means I can't assume people don't like me because they are not smiling. That has been the hardest idea for me to hold onto. Its not easy to do and I fall back into terror in social situation more often than I would like. Every negative thought I can vanquish is a triumph for my emotional and mental well being.

This. Even if I convince myself everything is okay, A negative thought will come up with another reason why I should be paranoid/Anxious. No matter how many positive thoughts I think about, The negatives always seem to outweigh them.
