Default Anyone here plan to have jobs that require little to no SA?

There was a time in my life where I wanted to become a comedian, or a motivational speaker, but once my SA kicked in, the idea of sort of faded away..
When I was working in retail, I hardly spoke to anyone, but strangely enough, I had a good amount of friends there haha.

Now I hope to become a social worker, but my social skills need major improvement for me to do that, but hopefully I'll overcome it

I'm a journalism major, which surely requires talking to people and such. I don't mind doing it actually.. although I'd still feel anxious about it anyway, but I just plow through...

I was going to be a Nurse, but in addition to SA, I have a phobia of shots. Then I was going to be a teacher, but I had a panic attack in school. Eventually, I graduated with a degree in Biology and Chemistry and I'm unemployed So....FML

I work in Tourism... which is about as "people person" as you get...

People usually laugh when I say I have social anxiety and work in this field, but I'm really good at the 'behind the scenes' work so that's what I do!

Hey withmyfaithx I did a few nights of armature stand up comedy a few months ago. Try it out you may like it. The stage part flew by for me because I was so nervous. My advice is to work on five minutes worth of material. Write your jokes down in a binder and take it on the stage with you. Rehearse the jokes until you know them by heart. Pay attention to how the audience reacts and slowly refine your routine based on that. Tweak the jokes or throw them away. It takes a long time to refine jokes. My boyfriend is a comedian so if you need tips let me know. The hardest part about open mic nights is the wait to go in stage. I had to wait five hours the two time I went on stage. I plan to become a massage therapist and work for myself. I will need to learn how to sell myself which is hard but possible with SA. I am also thinking about becoming a personal trainer and eventually a yoga and a tai chi instructor.

I want to be a Paramedic. Obviously in that job, you NEED to be able to communicate with people and perform your job effectively under stress.

Definitely things I couldn't do right now. I really want to in the future...Really badly. I'm hoping someday, I will get a hang on my SA and other issues so I can become one.

If things go well, I might have a shot at becoming a professor, which would involve the worst thing of all - public speaking. I've tried speaking in front of large groups of people before and it didn't go that well. I guess I won't know if I'm capable of overcoming my fear until I'm forced to do it regularly. I do have a plan B, so I'm not worried about it yet.

Hey OP! I bet you're underestimating how strong your social skills actually are; I know that's the case for me. It's just we tell ourselves that when we're feeling crappy or had a negatively reinforcing experience out in public.

I work in a factory. When I started I was on a line and had to work among other people. I couldn't talk to them really - so after awhile they decided to give a job by myself. Now I work in a small 'room' about 5 x 10 feet in size, alone, not talking, for 60 or more hours a week. I can do it with my SA but.. It's kind of getting to me.
