Default What do you do during anxiety?

I have the habit of looking around, or looking at my cell phone or my watch, or i'll scratch my nose or play with my car keys or something.

I feel like if somebody is looking at me I need to be doing something, I just cant be standing there.

I find that chewing gum tends to help me a bit but not completely.

Hmmm. You know, I don't know. I think I shift the weight from leg to leg a lot, and/or fidget. I (fake?)yawn a lot too.

Yeah I use my phone to look at as if it held tomorrows lotto numbers, its a handy device to 'appear' busy. I also chew a lot myself and helps to a degree for some reason anyway.

Scratch my neck/nose/head/face

look at my phone, fidget etc

I do that when I feel i'm being watched, I have to try and relax and then i'm fine, but it's hard to think in those situations

play with my phone, dig through my hell mess of a purse. sometimes i just stand there staring off into space.

i don't fidget too much anymore and i don't think my anxiety is as noticeable to anyone else now. so... i don't really pay attention to what i'm doing most of the time. hope i don't have some crazy look on my face. such as

The only thing I do is repeatedly run my hand through my hair. Other than that, I would think I appear normal to others.

I pretend look for stuff in my bag, yawn,
try look at my phone (if I'm shaking I can't do that)
try stare into space,
it usually all culminates in me forcing myself to think happy thoughts.

When I'm in a group situation with nothing to fidget with, my body locks up completely and I implode

I was stood alone with the girl I like waiting for class today and it was so awkward. I just kept looking around randomly (although not at her, I daren't look at her in case she notices that I look at her alot, but now I actually probably look at her less than normal people).

I pick at my fingers, look around, pretend to be getting something from my pockets/bag. Hm that's all I can think of at the top of my head.

well my heart starts beating really really fast, i get really sweaty and my hands start shaking. also my voice gets all quiet, direct, and wobbly. it's almost impossible to make eye contact when i'm like this. i'm sure it all makes me look like some sort of weirdo... =(

i try to hide it by move around a lot, like i was intentionally doing that or something lol. i dare say i've gotten pretty good at hiding it! =]

I scratch my head, face, arms, but that makes me feel more anxious, socially, but less anxious, physically. I think I'm ticing when I do this. I squeeze my eyes shut, another tic.

To look relaxed, I read or pretend to read a book. I don't notice the urgency to look busy as much as when I was younger. Now I feel comfortable staring into space. I'm often too tired to care.

One place I do have trouble is at the grocery store, where I am thinking about planning dinner, or adding numbers in my head, and I would prefer to stand and stare uninterrupted, but inevitably a clerk will ask if I need help, which I don't, so I try to look occupied. I'll pick up an item and pretend I'm reading the label so I can take time to think.

I fidget, act like I'm busy texting someone, play with my hands, crack my knuckles, smoke (not because I'm addicted to it, but because it fulfills my urge to fidget, hence why I'm a "social" smoker), stare at the ground and try not to draw any attention.
