Default Thyroid problem

I got a blood test yesterday and the doc was testing to see if there was any probs with my thyroid which may be causing depression and anxiety.

The question I have is; whilst anxiety and depression is a symptom of an under or over active thyroid, how severe is it as a symptom? I can only assume that it would be only mild cases but if anyone knows more then it would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm no expert, so please do not take what I say as fact.

From what I have heard, because of its location, when people have a severe bump on the thyroid (eg. car crash into steering wheel) and damage it badly they often become deeply depressed from then on.

In my opinion, I think there is definitely a link between an under active thyroid and depression.

I find out my results this week. If there's no thyroid issue then it's off to counselling and a look toward another med.

I was a bit lazy and found out my results today. Thyroid was fine, everything was fine. Blood sugar was a worry at 8.1. Been advised to take a glucose tolerance test, type 2 diabetes runs in my dad's side, he has it and I think I do too.

time to stay off the junk and really get the exercise and diet right.

On the Sa/Depression front I have been booked in to see a psychologist. It's funny, everyone I speak to has no idea I have SA. They actually think I'm outgoing, not extroverted but definately not reserved, quiet etc.

I'm also sticking with the Celexa. The abnormal sleep patterns are more to do with me rther than effects of the drug. Up to 9 hrs sleep is average and I'm aiming for no more than that. If the meds make me drowsy then I wil have to get the exercise in to replenish energy.

I am going to look at study and will also touch up my CV and then get myself out there to apply for work. I know I am capable of so much more than this.

I have faith.
