Default Severe depression

I just went through a really intense period of depression. I had stopped taking my medication because it was making me extremely agitated and manic. Couldn't sleep; couldn't sit still, etc. Well, when I got off of it I really crashed hard. It was all I could do just to get out of bed. I didn't leave the house for about a week. Didn't shower or change clothes or anything. I couldn't read, couldn't play video games - nothing was enjoyable.

I couldn't even post on this forum because I was so embarrassed of certain things that I said and felt like I could never come back here again. So I just sat and read conspiracy stuff on the internet, which is something I like but I find that I only get obsessed with it when I'm really depressed and anxious - like it feeds the paranoia and feelings of despair or something.

So anyway, I was finally able to call and leave a message for my doctor, telling her what was going on. And now I have an appointment for this Monday instead of waiting until the 18th. That was difficult to do - you know how hard it can be to make a phone call. So I was proud of myself for at least doing that.

I also managed to go and get a refill for Seroquel. That is really taking the edge off. The pain was so intense this time. It felt like I could just die from the sadness alone. I haven't been that depressed in years. It was really scary, I felt so hopeless and lost. I don't ever want to get off of med's again! I'm also using something called EFT that my therapist wanted me to try and it seems to be helping.

That's good you are back on your med(s) and feeling better now. Yeah, I've done that before: getting off meds and doing it too quickly. I also took Seroquel, but only for a short period time. It seemed like a very powerful drug. And good job making the phone call. I hate using the phone too!

That sucks, hope your doing alrite now. I know how you feel though, I suffer from periodic bursts of severe depression, currently in one right now. May I ask what medication you were taking that caused you to get so agitated? Stopping meds suddenly can sometimes induce a withdrawl syndrome which can make you feel worse.

I was taking Geodon, but I've had other meds do that to me. Lexapro made me really agitated, so did Zoloft.

Yeah some SSRI's can make people really agitated, paxil was the one that did it for me. I was forced to take it for a year and the agitation never stopped, so I don't believe it was just an initial period adjustment thing like some doctors would claim. Anyway hope your back on track.
