I know that SSRI's are supposed to be "the gold standard" treatment for OCD. So I'm wondering if I'm just having an odd atypical reaction, or if this is a common thing, so my question is; have SSRI's helped any of you OCD sufferers to any great extent?

I have OCD, and I tried an SSRI for the first time last November. After experiencing very little therapeutic effect with Lexapro, I switched to Zoloft. Unfortunately, the Zoloft wasn't any better. I don't really have much confidence in the SSRIs...I'm more comfortable taking nothing at this point.

You're supposed to combine meds with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I'm taking Prozac right now. I hear it's good for OCD. Maybe you just need to try a new med, too. |

I had ocd before taking meds.
once I started paxil, the ocd went away completely. then I stopped paxil. the ocd came back with double the intensity. then I tried prozac. the ocd wouldnt go away. then I tried zoloft. it still wouldnt go away. |
