Yeah. Why, are you experiencing them?

No, not right now. But I did the other day. I was at home, but there were a lot of people coming and going. Now I'm worried that I'll break out in hives whenever I'm nervous.

Was that the first time you got hives? I've had them only once, and was told that they're an allergic reaction (although that seemed odd, since I wasn't exposed to anything new. Apparently for most cases of hives, the cause is never known). So maybe it wasn't triggered by anxiety.

I had one episode that lasted over a day. I think it was from using some body wash - I only used a little, but it had a strong cologne scent. I itched all over. My eyes were puffy, too. Fortunately, I was better within two days.

I have been itching for the last 2 or 3 months. It is annoying the hell out of me. It's not all day, it is only at night. Usually I will break out in hives on my back and neck. I went to the doctor and he said it was probably an allergic reaction to something, but I have no clue what it is. The only thing that stops me from itching is taking benedryl. For the first month it was really bad, but now I think it is starting to go away. I haven't itched nearly as much for the last few days.

If you get hives it is due to an allergic reaction, however stress can make your immune system go out of wack, and therefore you may develop an allergy all of a sudden to something quite benign. So obviously, having an anxiety disorder like SA exposes your immune system to a lot of stress, but no I don't think you will break out in hives on cue every time you are in a social situation. If anything, perhaps one of the people who came via your place was wearing a perfume / cologne / deoderant which you became allergic to.

Yes!!!
When reading this thread, I had no idea what "hives" are but after Googling it, I realised I do! I don't know why but recently, I suddenly started getting them alot more. SA related perhaps? I'm pretty sure for me, it's an allergic reaction to dust mite.

i feel for you all! i get bad hives whenever my body temperature heats up- so every damn time i get nervous or anything to do with my social anxiety, i go ridiculously red, and people ask if i have meningitis or something.- very funny in hindsight, not funny when its happening.
its ridiculously embarrassing. i havent seemed to find anything to help, so i guess its just something i have to live with.
