Default Can I get lung cancer from this?

Okay I'm 21. I work at mc donalds and I had to put some chicken in a hot metal basket and while I was doing that, the basket was melting the pastic and I was breathing the fumes in without realizing it. Can I get lung cancer if this is a rare thing?

Btw, I'm also not a smoker, and I don't hang around smokers.

You'd be more likely to get cancer by eating the food there...let's be friends, you can get me a discount at McDonalds.

No. As long as you don't eat anything from McDonald's, you'll be fine.

Nope.....PROLONGED exposure, over like months or years would cause it.

Hypochondriasis.

I don't know if you can get cancer, but I'm sure breathing in fumes from melting plastic isn't good for you.

eating the food is more likely lol xD that stuff is baddddd for ya =/ i wouldn't worry about just breathing that in once in a while on accident, i think it would take a lot of prolonged exposure

You breathe in worse stuff walking down a busy street (with cars, not people, unless they're all smoking) .

If I were you I would take up smoking and then you wouldn't need to worry about the plastic.

You have worse issues than worrying about random things that can cause you physical harm. Try to overcome your hypochondria before you start worrying about real or imagined things..

i used to be really scared of having diseases. in fact, i probably talked about all the diseases, i was convinced that i had, for years!! i found, after working hard in therapy, that i was able to put my fears in perspective. {btw--i also learned that worrying and stressing about having a disease is not good for the immune system.}

and, i finally had to give myself a break---it's really tough to be scared all the time of having a dreadful disease....i know cuz i've been there. and, i don't stress so much about diseases today. i just take care of myself the best i can--and, when necessary, i limit my exposure to people, places, and things that might exacerbate my fears, and my obsessive thoughts. it's just too hard to be frightened and "on the alert" all the time. i found that it was just too exhausting. the biggest thing i learned in therapy was to just be nice to myself....and to stop torturing myself with such disturbing thoughts.

i hope this helps...and, i wish you the best of luck with this stuff
