Default World Politics.

If you had the power to remove 1 or more world leaders from politics who would you pick and why? Which leader(s) do you feel are doing a good job and why?

Feel free to discuss your opinions and debate ideas but please keep it productive.

Here are my choices....i've got several. Being Canadian I feel starting at home is appropriate.
1- Prime Minister Harper- For failing to represent Canada on the world stage by skipping summits and meetings, tarnishing our image, failing to protect the rights of Canadians abroad, failing to keep jobs in Canada with the exception of Gm(Nortel is one), failing to help the people of Canada but allowing enterprises to get bigger and richer with government help, poor enviromental record, refusing to comment or spewing a load of horse manure when asked why the government did something wrong or bad and finally lying and appointing his own supporter to parliament.

2-Mahmoud Ahmadinejad- His constant denial of the holocaust is disgusting as is his desire to wipe Isreal off the map. Oppression, violence, arrests and torture against mainly calm protesters. His scathing remarks against other countries of the world for post election violence shows he will do anything to maintain control and blames other countries for his regimes inner problems

3- Hugo Chavez- For oppressing opposition, censoring media and closing outlets that do not spread his agenda. Causing conflicts with neighbors.

4-Kim Il Jong- For building his military while his people suffer from poor infrastructure and famine. Trying to threaten the international community with missile launches and rhetoric, threatening war with S. Korea. He is like a small child craving attention even if it is negative. Ignore him and he will go away.

5-Muammar al-Gaddafi- His recent speech at the U.N assembly as well as his welcome home celebration for an accused terrorist. Need i say more.

6- Silvio Berlusconi- For requesting money during a G8 summit in a earthquake damaged area to help rebuild, while giving out lavishly expensive gifts to the attending leaders. One gift alone amounted to 460,000$. Not exactly what I call tastefully

Who's going a good job
1-President Obama- Although i dont really trust any politician he is at least extending his hand in peace to the people of the middle east and has not invaded any countries like his predecessor Bush. Helping the government be more transparent by making formerly classified documents public to the dismay of guilty parties not wanting to be exposed.

2- Angela Merkel- She is a strong leader in a country that is still recovering from ww2 and the cold war era. The look on her face when President Bush tried to give her a massage was priceless, she deserves some credit for having survived that

If I had to pick one, it would be a tough choice between Ahmadinejad. Both are horrible influences on their region and a huge pain in the *** to the United States. But if I was forced, I'd probably go with Ahmadinejad because of that whole nuclear weapons thing.

Funny how Harper made your list, even if you are Canadian. You may not agree w/ his politics, but in the grand scheme of things, he seems pretty harmless.

in before Obama

If you take out Ahmadinejad, you ought to take out Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Khamenei actually has more power than Ahmadinejad. The president is the face of Iran's politics, but the Supreme Leader is the one who is really pulling the strings.

Kim Jong Il would be my top pick, but you have to take out his whole regime, not just him.

Of course he's harmless. How could a Canadian politician be anything but?

Reminds me of an American comedian that was asked what Americans think of Canada. He replied "We don't".

There's not much point unless I get to choose their replacement.

Compared to the others on my list he is really the least harmful but he has done so little for my country. He seems more intent of sitting back idly while middle and lower class citizens struggle to survive, had to be threatened with an election before making changes to Employment Insurance. Not to mention the huge deficit we now have. He is always to slow to react or needs to feel threatened by the opposition before making any changes. Then there is the matter of leaving citizens stranded in other countries (Suaad Hagi Mohamud and others recently)

And I'm reminded of a few South Park episodes. And "Blame Canada" has started playing in my head lol.

Barack Obama, since he impacts me directly. I'm going to be a taxpayer soon, (ha, pay them... rather they're going to be stolen from me..) and isn't this just the greatest time to be one? Right smack in the middle of propositions for Socialized Medicine.

Horrible, horrible timing.

Chavez ahead of Kim Jong-Il?

What's worse, a queen bee that makes the nest better but will sting the **** out of you for no good reason, or a rat that eats its own offspring?

They numbers were not meant to denote who was worst on a scale of 1-6.

We should make them all trade countries and see how the other half dictates.

I dunno, I think you could make the argument that Chavez is more harmful than Ill. Yeah, they have that whole nuclear thing, but basically the NorKs are a bunch of oafish buffoons who can't really do anything right, especially something as technical as a nuclear weapon. It's taken them years to even figure out how a rocket is supposed to launch after all.

Chavez is a problem, however, because he is a huge influence on his neighbors. He likes to stir up trouble in other countries and, at least from the American perspective, likes to try to turn Latin American allies against us. Not only that, but he's sitting on a huge oil supply.

Chavez is worse for the US, But the Kims starved 1,000,000 to death, and commit human rights violations for kicks...

I assumed everyone would rank crappy leaders based on human collateral.
