The pregnancy is believed to be a case of a rare condition known as superfetation, or conceiving while pregnant.

Sorry, that just struck me as funny for some reason. Weird story though.

Ok, I admit I havent read the full article. I just have 2 questions:

Can she see the new pregnancy through? Is that biologically possible?

And how will giving birth work (for the first one)?

I would think it wouldn't be much different than having twins.

In an unrelated story, my cousin, who has already had two miscarriages, was pregnant again with twins, but she just found out yesterday that she has lost one of the twins. The other one is still alive. She has about 5 weeks left until her due date.

Probably a genetic mutation that popped up because it benefited reproduction

That kind of sucks in a way because you know they weren't using protection on purpose. You're already pregnant so let's go at it rabbits, lol. Two weeks later, noooooo!

Is he the father of the second baby? I can't imagine the first baby squishing the second baby. Depending on where the babies are, the second one could be at a disadvantage - and could be out first.

She needs to check for the need of Valtrex!

What's sick about it? You believe in a God who must have had a hand in this if your world view is correct, right?

And given that they have the same last name they are presumably married, and you approve of sex within marriage. (I will refrain from making the obvious joke about how this is from Arkansas, so they could have the same surname as brother & sister.)

You are misreading what I said. The thought of "double pregnancy" like that is weird - twins, even fraternal is okay. But, when there is conception apart like that, it's just weird. The timing is all messed up - what are they going to tell their kids? They are probably fighting over it right now. The later one will probably get pushed out first.

Mommy and Daddy tried really hard to have twins - or baby, you were a surprise due to a "difference" in your mama.

I don't see how this is a problem. They're the same as fraternal twins except for having a conception date two weeks apart. Two weeks is hardly a huge amount of time.

How to tell kids? "You were made on a different day than your brother/sister." Seems like something that could be explained to a small child without even having to go into the details of sexual reproduction.

Is this question really any harder than the "Where do babies come from question?" that parents dread.

If they were conceived only two-and-a-half weeks apart, and her body regulates things so that they grow at the same pace, there might not be much of a difference between them. They'll presumably be born at the same time, so will just be siblings or like non-identical twins. But it might be difficult to explain if one looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger and the other like Danny Devito!

Article doesn't say, though I'd assume he most likely is. If she cheated on him she had best done so with a guy who looks at least vaguely like her hubby. After all, it's kind of hard to hide cheating if one gets pregnant by a man of another race that makes the infidelity obvious when out pops a baby that looks not even slightly like "daddy".

And why do you only ask if he's the father of the 2nd? Without a DNA test we don't know if he fathered #1 either.

I guess it's like having fraternal twins, except spaced out a little further. I'm guessing a couple of weeks apart is safe enough to place both fetuses within the same uterus.
