I thought we weren't supposed to judge other cultures. To do so suggests we're superior to them. Aren't we supposed to pretend all cultures are equal, rather than openly admit some are simply insane backward barbarians?

A 23-year-old unmarried woman was awarded one-year prison term and 100 lashes for 1-committing adultery and trying to abort the resultant fetus.
The District Court in Jeddah pronounced the verdict on Saturday after the girl confessed that she had 2-a forced sexual intercourse with a man who had offered her a ride. The man, the girl confessed, took her to a rest house, east of Jeddah, where he and four of friends assaulted her all night long.
The girl claimed that she became pregnant soon after and went to King Fahd Hospital for Armed Forces in an attempt to carry out 3-an abortion. She was eight weeks’ pregnant then, the hospital confirmed.
According to the ruling, the woman will be sent to a jail outside Jeddah to spend her time and will be lashed after delivery of her baby who will take the mother’s last name.



As far as I know about them and islam

1-That was Rape!

2-As far as I know:12 years in jail,, old systems and their Islam=execution!

3-an abortion=illegal in their countryZ

Rape is not a joke in their country,,,, but it seems their young generation out of controland new soft laws increased their social crimes!

It's not so much that we aren't supposed to for 'moral' purposes. It's that when we do we get many people in the world mad at us. Talk of human rights is often viewed as a form of western cultural imperialism. Insane backward barbarians can easily get their hands on bombs.

I've known many muslims here in Australia, none of whom would support this insanity but I really don't get why women are so highly disrespected in parts of the Islamic world. Do these men feel nothing for women, even the mothers that raised them?

They're not even second class citizens and are treated like possessions, not people.

Saudi Arabia is an ultra conservative Muslim country. From what I have been told, one of enforced rules is restrictions on interacting w/ non relatives strangers of the opposite sex. Additionally, there is this requirement that women is escorted my mahram, male relative, in public. Since she was alone and interacted with a male stranger, she was probably fault for that for placing herself in the situation in the first place. I am not declaring that this is right, just interpreting that it might be the cause for her persecution. Even so, it is still bias against the woman since the man was the one initiated the contact in the first place. Moreover perhaps it probably was determined that she also lacked support for her claims since there is requirement that there are certain number witnesses to prove a rape.

Yeah that's true but problem is by the laws laid out in the Quran it is morally wrong for a man to even approach an unknown female, let alone have sex with her yet in reality the Islamic justice system basically ignores this and only persecutes the female.

It's hypocrisy and they can't morally have it both ways.

So sick.. I hate hearing about this stuff so often. I dont believe men and women are considered equal. I dont know if they ever will be. Many religions reinforce that women are second to man. Like gypsies and poligamists. Even the bible says that the man is the head of the house hold, making women second. I know Im probably going to get back lash, but thats okay. It just all really makes me sad.

if that is true,,,, %99 of Taxi companies in that country will go bankrupt next day!! as women can't drive in Cities they all r living from them!
