Did any of you see the news about a controversial Halloween costume which had a space alien face mask, wearing an orange prison jump suit, and carrying a large green card that said "Green Card" on it?

It was pulled by numerous stores such as Target.

Do you deem that offensive or funny?

In any case, those who complained with accusations of it being offensive, as usual, simply had their complaints back fire on them. They gave it massive media attention and the company that made it totally sold out of it as a result. Might be best to not complain and then nobody will know and seek out the "offensive" item in question.

Funny lol. I don't know why people are so against immigration when there are just as many losers/welfare people/criminals on this side of the border, or whatever it is they hate Mexicans for.

I thought it was funny too.

It's hard to make any joke without potentially offending somebody. And they are ILLEGAL aliens (criminals), so this isn't targeting those who obey the law and legally immigrate to the US.

I agree with this. It's not like it was making fun of immigrants, just the illegal ones. I didn't necessarily find it funny, it was just another costume. But it definantly did not come across as offensive.

I feel only illegal aliens would be offended by it.

Even if stores pulled this from the shelves, the costume would be easy to replicate. All you'd need is an alien mask, which I'm sure is readily available at any Halloween store.

My dad probably would have laughed (miss him!), and he was a naturalized citizen. He was dead set against benefits for illegals. Get a freakin' citizenship, people!

I am as well. It makes me angry when they demand their rights. My grandmother came here in the 1930s and she became a citizen and she learned English (her main language was German). Hearing about all of the things that she and her brothers and sisters had to do to create their lives as legal and documented US citizens makes me angry wen I hear undocumented citizens demand theirs.

The people this would appeal to don't get that- mostly too stupid to know what a Green Card is. Ignorant people complaining about " all them furriners stealin our jobs" and all that BS. That is a good thing to point out. I would have to somewhat disagree with some earlier posts. I think a large % of anti-"illegal" immigrant people are generally anti-"legal" immigrant or perhaps anti-everything "foreign" ( not foreign as in nationality but something they are unfamiliar with). And it would not surprise me if they hate Green Card holders as much as they hate "illegal" immigrants.

Personally, I really have a thing against litterers and speeders. I would like to roundup all the Illegal Drivers and Illegal Trash Tossers. I find the obsession with immigration and demonization of a class of people pretty creepy. Especially since we are ALL criminals. Not to mention that none of it is based on any economic ( or other) reality.

That said, I am not offended by the costume.

Its a costume for Halloween, I think you are reading far too much into it.
