Robert Hall, a senior citizen from Whitman, said the measure poses “an awful situation.” “We’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t,” said Hall, 76. “If we’re not charged this (tax hike) money, it would either have to come from the younger folks or it’s money that schools and public safety aren’t going to have. But if taxes keep going up, we’re going to get run out of our homes.” http://www.enterprisenews.com/news/x2018125914

Such ideas sound like political pandering. Anybody who's gone out to vote might have noticed that it's like an AARP convention at the polls. Retired folks vote -- they vote then get the early bird special before they head home for bed at 7:00.
Seniors complain about living on a "fixed income", as if that's a bad thing. Most non-seniors have a variable income like a job that they can lose and see their income vary down to zero. By comparison a SS check that comes on the 3rd of every month with an annual inflation adjustment might look attractive. Sounds like age discrimination to me, but we must kiss voter *** even if it's really old and looks like a prune.
