Default Colbert named AP's Celeb of the Year

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22347201/

Quote:
In 2007, the mock pundit on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” exceeded the influence of most real pundits, orchestrating an ill-fated (and Doritos-sponsored) run for president and topping the best-seller lists with his book “I Am America (And So Can You!).”

I love Colbert!!!!!!!!!!

I like him, but calling him the "Celeb of the Year" is a bit much.

But then a "Celeb of the Year" award shouldn't even exist. Celebrities get far too much praise as it is.

I can kind of see what you mean about the celeb of the year thing.

Colbert doesnt take himself seriously, although his critics seem to. I enjoy how they make fun of everything and everyone politically, including the dems. All the talking heads take themselves so seriously...and they shouldnt.

Colbert has truly made a splash since his show started and love him or hate him, he is getting some ratings.

Not to mention the success of his book.

Actually, Colbert's best work was playing the Letter Z opposite Nicole Sullivan's Letter A on Sesame Street's All-Star Alphabet!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0484333/

The Colbert Report is coming back without its writers. I wonder how good it will be. And since Colbert has quite a few writing credits to his name ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0170306/ ), I would assume he's part of the union, so can he write for his own show, and if not, who will???

I like him better when he was sidekick for Stewart. He was unknown then so he was able to interview unsuspecting people. Now everyone comes on knowing what to expect and how to play the game and it's lost a lot of its appeal.

And, of his guests, who has played the game successfully?

Colbert and lot of comedians made a name for themselves during the Bush administration, as well as a lot of political pundits. They're going to be out of a job if we get somebody good in office.

I think the daily show is funnier because most of the comedy is written beforehand. It's satire on the news, which is especially funny thanks to Bush and team doing most of the heavy lifting for the comedic material.

Half of what Colbert does is ad lib so it's naturally not going to be as funny as prepared material. But 'liberal' satire sure beats 'conservative' satire. 24 hour news show. what a joke. Did that conservative nutjob Joel Surnow really think conservative satire was anything more than an oxymoron or that the dinasours watching had a funny bone in their body?

Typical comment from Odun. Its funny how Odun can regularly insult people and get away with it yet the rest of us get our hands slapped for saying anything in reply.

orpheus, i dont think there is 'liberal' or 'conservative' humor.

yes, some acts try to politicize their humor. but if you do that too much you lose quality.

i didnt call anyone on here a 'young twerp', nor did i say only young twerps watch colbert.

i said 'young twerps are easily entertained' i stand by that. i dont think it is offensive either.
