If I were a rich man...

I'd fill my yard with chicks and turkeys and geese and ducks for the town to see and hear,
squawking just as noisily as they can,
and each "quack quack squawk squawk quack quack squawk squawk" would land like a trumpet on the ear,
as if to say "here lives a wealthy man!"

Same here - for myself, and everyone in my family. Also...

- Go to college in the United Kingdom.
- Go on a freighter voyage.
- Go on a bus trip every weekend to explore a new city.
- Buy hardcover (first edition when possible) copies of all of my favourite books and have a proper library (with dark-stained, built-in shelves).
- Buy two copies of this $86+ Ilocano/English dictionary-grammar that I've been eyeing longingly: one for me, one for my boyfriend.
- Pay someone to set up indoor plumbing that actually works in my parents' house.
- Pay for any part of the knee surgery that my mother needs badly, which isn't covered by above health insurance.
- Buy an accordion.
- Give money to all of the panhandlers who ask me for it, and to all of the buskers I encounter.
- Vaguely, help people and causes who need it, particularly those who are at the margins of society.

If I had money, well, there is too much to list, but I would:
-get the best freaking health insurance money can buy
-Buy a really big, nice house with a big yard and decorate it really nice
-Adopt some children
-Adopt some pets from the pound
-Buy a really, really good computer
-Buy a bunch of music and dvds
-Travel

how much money are we talking about.

If it is a small amount - $500 - I'd pay off all my credit cards.

If it is a medium amount - $5000 - I'd pay off credit cards and move somewhere else

If it is a large about - $50,000 - I'd buy a car and do all of the above

$500,000 - I'd do all of the above and travel... and do some charity work.

$5 Million - I'd do all of the above and invest well enough that I wouldn't have to ever answer this question again.

Hmm..let's say if you had a reasonable amount of money. What do you think that would be? Let's say you make $100,000 a year? So, you haven't won the lottery, but you can live comfortably. I think I'd be HAPPIER ha, if I had some basic things. At least my life would be easier, and then I think my anxiety/depression would be lessened.

MATERIAL things I think having would make life easier:
1. again, health insurance, since now, I have none, for me or the kids. Just imagine all the nightmarish scenarios.
2. A slightly used car
3. Bikes for all in family
4. Money to go out once every 3 weeks to movie and dinner for all.
5. Another slightly used car for the girls. Maybe. This may be optional. They don't go out or work.
6. $2-300 clothes shopping money per month total for entire family.
7. $3000? for a vacation once a year.
8. Oh wow. Enough money to buy a comfy couch, recliner, big t.v., good matresses for the girls, a dresser, carpeting for the living room, and a new kithen counter.

Ha, now I'm on a roll, and I'm starting to feel devilishly materialistic. Naughty American.

9. A medium sized camper
10. a gym membership for all
11. Three new cd players
12. An extra room. Now we're talkin'.
13. A puppy
14. lazer eye surgery, liposuction, dental work.
15. The ability to give money away and not think I'm taking food out of my kids' mouths.

Decided to limit it to 15 items, 'cause I could go on forever. I definitely feel guilty making this list and wanting all these things. I think I'll go meditate.

I would buy a support network. To obtain this currently, I have to go through the process of applying for social support.

I can't think of any luxuries I would buy; maybe more books.

For small amounts, I would keep it and think on it a lot before deciding.

For fantastic amounts, I would employ someone I know so he could have a fun job that I think doesn't really pay reliably in reality. I would want to be involved too, maybe doing the same thing.
Give lots to charity anonymously,
Invest it to keep it growing if i knew at all how to do that or could learn.

100,000 a year, that's realistic. much harder to think about. I might post later.

Build another highschool in Spanaway Washington.

The population out there has been rapidly expanding since the mid-late 90s and they still haven't built antother school because the selfish resedents that have lived there since the late 70s always vote "No City" so they don't get taxed enuff to build another highschool

and it's reached a point where all they can do is keep building these outside portables for classrooms and transfering students and sometimes even new sophmores have to get bussed to Tacoma or get put on a waiting list to attend school

Yes it is.

But really, if I had money, I'd pay off my loans... what a huge burden off my chest that would be...
