I think I got it pretty quick. Lifesavers are a lolly (with sugar). A diabetic might need the sugar to save their life.
Or maybe not I don't know. |

They probaly meant the candy? Since after a diabetic uses the insulin they would be low in blood sugar and need to take candy or something sweet to quickly raise the blood sugar level. So the candy itself saves their lives
