the usual dose range is 50 to 200 but in general anxiety sufferers should take 25 for a while, then if no severe \side effects, go up to 50 and later higher

please don't. SSRIs cause initial really bad anxiety, nausea, and akathisia in many people. The more you take the worse the initial side effects will be. Let your body get used to the lowest possible dosage, then escalate slowly if needed. Acute SSRI usage only results in extreme anguish. It is the tolerance and downregulation of the brains response to abnormally high levels of serotonin (caused by Zoloft) that causes the beneficial effects on anxiety and depression.

My psychiatrist said 4 days 25 mg, then 50 mg.
I think it is best if your body adapts to the lowest dose first. If you jump to 50, i think you'll get severe side effects. |

You guys were right. Under the advice from a friend, I tried starting with 100mg. BIG mistake. I had horrible anxiety, aching headaches, and akathesia. The first day, I tried to smoke weed to take the edge off... BAD idea, it just made it worse. The second day, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking I was going to die from a heart attack. I lowered the dose to 50mg, but it was still really bad. Now I'm down to 25mg and I can still feel the sides, but they're not as bad. I just hope this anxiety goes away soon...

Always start with a low dose if you have anxiety, it's just not worth jumping in at the deep end. It's better to be slow and gradual.
