Hi, wondered if anyone knew about how to come down from 5 mg of xanax per day to 2 mg per day. Up until about 2 months ago, I was on 2 mg per day. I did something very stupid, I was sick for 2 weeks and took more of my xanax than I normally did and when I felt better went back down to 2 mg and started suffering withdrawal symptoms. Don't really know how many I took during those 2 weeks.... Doc now has me on 5 mg a day and says to take that for 1 1/2 weeks then decrease by .05 for 1 1/2 weeks and so on. Never reducing more than .05 until i reach my 2 mgs. again. Anyone been through anything like this before. How long does it take to feel normal again. I sometimes feel I am losing it!

I think doc has the right idea, some of the withdrawl may be psychological, try taking extra vitamin and mineral pills

remember that xanax is short acting and for most of us a dose only lasts a few hours

Read up on Dr. Ashtons protocol on how to withdraw from xanax relatively pain-free with a cross-taper off valium.
