Hi all,
I have a big public lecture coming up. I have been dreading it for over a year, and as it gets closer I just feel worse and worse. Whenever I talk in public my voice shakes and it sounds like I am starting to cry. This time I have to talk in front of so many of my peers (who have not seen me talk before), strangers, my boss (who decides whether I will be kept on in 2 years time). I cannot let myself lose control on this occasion. I want to go to a doctor and get something, I have researched (here and elsewhere) and propranolol seems the most likely to help. But I am worried that if I go to a doctor he/she will just say to relax or something, or will proscribe something very mild. Is propranolol (or something similar) proscribed for this kind of problem? Do you think I could get it? I am so worried, I have even been thinking about going to an on-line pharmacy (which I don't want to do). I live in Ireland if that makes a difference to anything.
Please help.
