Wellbutrin SR took away my appetite and made me shake. I didn't notice any appreciable antidepressant effects from it. I've never taken the immediate release version.
There are some time-released medications that are genuinely advantageous to their normal counterparts. For instance, I take time-released lithium. Regular lithium releases instantly and causes "spikes" in lithium serum levels, which makes the side effects worse and mood less likely to remain stable.
