Default Venlafaxine (effexor) for mild anxiety

I was just prescribed venlafaxine (37.5) for mild SA and GAD but ive been reading about all these terrible side effects and withdraw symptoms and now im kind of scared to take it
i want to take medication because im in my last year of high school and want to enjoy it without being so shy and anxious all the time and counselling isn't really working
Should i take this stuff?

If you are afraid of the withdrawal effects you have read/heard about, then you should check back with your doctor to see if they can recommend one that might be effective for your issues and not have the potential withdrawal effects.

Have you tried an SRRI before? They usually try one of those before effexor.

i believe much of Effexor's withdrawal effects has to do with its norepinephrine reuptake inhibiton properties. maybe an SSRI would work better, at least at first. Strangely, i found effexor 37.5 mg to not be as bad as i thought it would be. it was slightly more energizining, and gave me motivation, and also rapidly decreased my social anxiety, whereas the SSRIs made me flat, apathetic, and took alot longer to work. id stay at the lowest dose that works. All of the SSRIs have terrible withdrawal symptoms...with the exception being Prozac, it is self-tapering due to its super long half-life.
