They're useless crap. I have yet to find a single one that helped in the least. In fact, due to side effects most are worse than taking nothing.
Sorry if that sounds harsh & negative, but that's my personal experience. YMMV.

Ill have to agree with ultrashy on that one. I wouldn't say completely useless because everybody reacts differently. I took paxil for a while which i would say did nothing for my anxiety, and helped somewhat for depression. Celexa made me very depressed but did an ok job for my anxiety. lexapro i only took for about 3 weeks so i dont know if it really did anything or not. now that i am off all medication, i exercise daily. my sa is overall a bit worse then when i wasn't on meds and same with depression, but my body feels so much better, thats for sure. My panic attacks have been reduced greatly as well. the only combo i felt had ever worked was when i took klonopin and any antidepressants together, i felt very happy. I still am prescribed klonopin and have probably used 10 pills in the last year, because it has not worked for me by itself. thats my story on meds.

I'm taking sertraline (zoloft). I may be extremely sensitive to this medication. After about a month of gradually tapering on I noticed my depression was gone. I didn't think I had depression in the first place, so that was nice to feel so upbeat and have less moodswings. Very surprising. This is very dependent on dose though. I know you don't want to know about that but I think the right dose is crucial. If I adjust even slightly my results and mood change noticeably.
Other meds I've tried so far... Cymbalta made me feel apathetic and numb. Paxil made me anxious, but I didn't really give it a fair chance to be honest. Good luck |

I am on Paxil in addition to adderall and a mood stabilizer. I think Paxil in the combination with the other meds is helping. I think sometimes you need a combo of med and not just one med to help with SA

I think anti-depressants can help you be a level calmer - I'm on zoloft and it slowed down the huge amount of worrying thoughts - that in itself is a relief!

i was on cipralex, and i think it made me generally happier which i wasnt used to after all the depression... and i still worried and stuff about people when on it; but it didnt bother me as much. i still had panic attacks every once in a while though.

I was on zoloft for a year or so, while I was still being diagnosed as depressed and not bipolar. I was on a pretty low dose - like 75mg. But it worked great for my SA, I was so manic all the time that I was practically a different person.
This probably doesn't help anyone. lol. But I do think it might work for a lot of people. |

Tried Paxil, Effexor, and Celexa, none of them have worked.

Hmm been on a few:
Paxil didn't work on lower doses but made me completely screwed up at higher ones, borderline suicidal, really depressed. So no luck there. Zoloft did nothing else than give me gas. So that's a no there on any other effects. Cipralex didn't do anything either. And I mean exactly nothing. No effects whatsoever. Effexor is what I'm on now. And honestly I don't think it's doing anything of value. It might be even more useless than the Cipralex because I've been depressed lately. Then there was another one that I was on that was also totally useless and gave me headaches but it was straight after I came off Paxil and my memories from that time are less than perfect. So I don't have a name for that one. So my experience with them has been far from satisfactory. And I'm more interested in Benzo's which do work for me. If I can find a way to get Nardil in my country I will jump at it. As I've written off SSRI & SNRI drugs as a benefit for me until some new ones show up with better research. So for me, nothing. But drugs work differently for different people. So you should at least try them if you haven't tried them for all we know they might work for you.
