Default Question about my new Headache Medication

Just went to the neurologist and was put on the following...

Topamax
Maxalt
and...Zyprexa

I also received "Nerve Blocks" in my head, neck, and, shoulders, to help with the headaches.

He prescribed the zyprexa as a 'bridge' for 7 days. Does anyone know what he means by that exactly? I forgot to write it down as he was explaining it to me and couldn't find it on the internet. As I understand it's an antipsychotic and notorious for weight gain but whats the purpose of it being prescribed for rebound/chronic headaches for 7 days?

Also, has anyone had any experiences with maxalt and topamax?

Thanks!

Topamax prevents migraines while Maxalt treats migraines that are already happening. I have no idea why he gave you Zyprexa. Zyprexa is the strongest appetite stimulant in the world IMO. You will definitely gain lots of weight on it.

I haven't had any experience with the Migraine meds sadly, but I'd not take the Zyprexa unless you're really in need of an Antipsychotic. I'll agree with the good Dr House above, its a huge appetite stimulant, even starting out.

I was on that stuff for a little over a month, and its the closest I think I'll ever come to feeling completely unconscious but alive at the same time (and craving quarter pounders too).
