Default Opiates and sexual side effects?

Ever since I moved up to 40mgs of Dilaudid a day it seems my sex drive is totally gone. Do opiates cause sexual side effects, like it is the cause or is it another drug of mine?(my drug list is in my sig)

I've been on Paxil 60mgs for ages now and it never really bothered me with sexual side effects so...

Paxil and SSRI's are known for having sexual side effects....

But opiates are even more well known for this. I am an ex-opiate addict(oxy and H for 5 years), and took Suboxone(partial agonist opiate) for 2 years, and throughout that period of time I had some serious erectile/sexual problems. There were times, when I was last dating, that I would last for over an hour, and then just give up and go limp. :P

I would say it's probably the Dilalauid, but the Paxil could possibly add to it as well. I would recommend some herbal supplements like Maca or other herbs that generate sexual function. Then there's always Viagra.

Apparently high doses of opiates can cause loss of testosterone and I'm gonna have my blood checked for such.

That's a good point. Many people I know have seen drastic improvements in their lives from taking a steroid for testosterone levels. I remember they said something to make sure you tell them to test for "all kinds of testosterone" or something, and to pay the most attention to the "free testosterone" in your body. You'll probably want to read more about it/talk to someone more knowledgeable about it, but it's a very good idea. I've been thinking about getting the same thing done, as I am on a low dose of suboxone right now.
