Angry my anxiety is DRIVNG ME INSANE!

I have extremely bad anxiety and depression. My first doc thought i just had GAD, so he tried me on almost every antidepressant out there. None of them worked for me, i was still having panic attacks and felt like electricity was flowing through my body...like i just wanted to scream and run. I got a new doc after about a year. He thinks i have mixed bipolar. He has me on 25 mg of Lamictal, 5 mg of prozac, and 900 mg of Neurontin. I have the weirdest side effects; really intense twitchy and jerky movements in my entire body, especially my head. so i'm not sure if the prozac is making me feel like this or what? i constantly feel nervous and tensed up...i feel like i'm going crazy, and i don't know what to do with myself. I don't even know if i'm bipolar or what...or if these medications are making me feel like this or if it's just me...i'm so confused. someone please help

wow interesting. my lip is always quivering too. i'm tapering off prozac right now, and i'm a little nervous to go off it since i've been on antidepressants for over a year. My only concern is that i'll have a full blown panic attack again, but this stuff hasn't seemed to really help anyways since i still can't stand to be around people.

it's been over a year. i'm getting to the point that i just want to go off everything and see how i feel. i just seem to be having too many weird side effects, that may or may not be from the meds. i honestly don't know since it's been so long

I don't know what your history is but its always smart to be on one med at a time or at least only add one med at a time so that you are able to determine which ones are helping or making things worse.

Obviously you should talk to your psychologist before you make any decisions. If you don't value his input, then find a new one.

I would be more concerned if your anxiety weren't driving you insane.

Probably because if you dont find anxiety irritating to start with then it is simply not a problem.

Keith, where do you come up with these wild & crazy ideas of using a tranquilizer for anxiety? That's far too obvious a solution. One has to try the entire pharmacy first -- at least all the non-controlled stuff in that pharmacy -- before we consider the obvious.

Plus the DEA says benzos are bad. And that crazy old hag Prof. C. Heather Ashton in the UK really hates them.

To OP:
At this point I would recommend signing yourself into a clinic for inpatient treatment.

See if your insurance supports it first, find a good place somewhat local, and just do it. When I was at your point a couple of years ago it was the smartest thing I did.

You NEED to willing to say fvck my family, fvck my job, fvck school, fvck ANYTHING but ME and MY own mental health.
It was hard to do, to be that selfish, but the doctors in the clinic were able to explain it to my family. Admit yourself, seriously.

As long as she is not a danger to herself, I don't see how that level of life disruption would be called for. Trying new meds that may wind up making you more nutty is going to be just as stressful whether you are confined in a hospital or not. Feeling like one could pull ones hair out is a lot different than feeling like you could put a gun to your head and doesn't require as much drastic action.
