Looking at tyrosine's mechanism of action, though, it seems like it probably has very serious interactions with MAOIs. As I (might) be trying one soon, am I right in assuming this? I'll also ask my pdoc when I see her in about a week, but it seems like something I'm better off being cautious with. L-Theanine seems to be relatively benign but I've noticed a lot of the manufacturers caution against using alongside SSRIs and MAOIs, but I can't seem to find a solid reason for this. I've used it with no problem alongside a tricyclic, but that's not specifically mentioned. I also know it's included in a lot of energy drinks, and if there were any serious known interactions, I'd expect to see a warning on those, but I never have. Perhaps somebody can clarify this for me?

id think the L-theanine would be alot safer....but Green Tea makes me feel jittery and weird on Parnate. Id be really careful with the L-tyrosine...i took some L-dopa and it gave me a minor hypertensive crisis, and i only took 10mg of it. L-tyrosine sounds like it would surely cause a rise in blood pressure, and i wouldnt try it unless you have something to lower BP if it gets really high
