Just because some med works for someone doesn't mean it will work for you. We all have unique reactions to meds. Pretty much every post in here is about meds helping social behavior so just take a look around if you are looking for testimonials.

I always say if you ask enough "why's" you'll have your answer. So WHY do people not have that drive to be social. Most of us want social contact with others but we have a hard time flipping that social switch. For me, it takes alot of effort to put myself out there, Red Bull helps a little. Ambien helps alot..........for 30 minutes before it knocks me out.

medication helps me have the ability to socialize, by decreasing my anxiety. it doesn't make me want to though - in fact it does the opposite, makes me lose interest in most things

I must say I'm the opposite to u dontcare, the meds if they lift my depression somewhat, make me want to go out and be social. In fact I think about being social all the time. My problem is when I actually get to the social gatherings or occasions I start to worry a lot and get very anxious. Thats SA I guess, but yea meds definely give me the drive and motivation to be social.

Dopamine and serotonin releasers are great for sociability, as long as you supplement with amino acids to reduce crashing. Ritalin made me talk non-stop for hours with benzos, and we all know how effective MDMA is. Adderall users, I'm sure, will attest to the fact that being happy and talkative is fun.
If you want a legal dopamine-releaser, order some phenylethylamine. Not only does it make you sociable and euphoric, it seems to be more calming than other stimulants like Adderall. Combined with various supplements and carvedilol (for blood pressure increase), I think this would be amazingly effective for SA and schizoid/anhedonic type symptoms. If you added a benzo in occasionally, well I can not imagine a better treatment. I think the confidence from this combo would be quite a revelation for most people. One problem may be arrogance with all that dopamine, so perhaps augmenting with tryptophan/SSRIs would be an idea. |

Confidence is one drug guaranteed to make you social.

Any stimulant can make one more social. However amphetamines such as Adderall can make you 2-3x more social than normal. Methylphenidate works well too but not as good as Adderall.

Alcohol works for me. Its funny, even one beer (I'm 6'2" 177lbs) takes that little nervous edge off. I won't even feel tipsy but the nervousness decreases drastically. Unfortunately that reliance can be labeled as alcoholism haha.
If alcohol was a prescribed medication, it would be one of the most effective meds out there. Maybe we should all move to France.....and drink a glass or two of wine a day as you're supposed to? Or if that doesn't work, move to Poland or Russia where they eat their lucky charms with vodka. |

True. I find myself talking with ease with people unlike a few weeks ago without meds. It's amazing.
But it doesn't makes me more social.
