Default First time w/ anti-anxiety meds

Hey all, am going to the doctors tomorrow to ask for medication to help with my anxiety and depression. My whole life I have been against using pills for my mental condition, but I need to at least give it a try and the timing is perfect as my SA and depression couldn't be worse right now.

My question is; if any of you suffer from depression and social anxiety, and you take medication for it, what were you prescribed and has it helped? (would you recommend it).

I've looked it up and propranolol seems the best choice, but given my initial worries regarding pills I'd rather I get the best pill for the job instead of having to go down the road of "trial and error". I understand that not all pills work for everyone, but your experiences would help me make a more balanced decision.

Many thanks.

Edit: Never mind, propranolol is apparently a short term thing. Just goes to show how poor my research skills are!
