Default Discontinuation of Strattera (Effects)

I have been taking a low dose (60-80mg) of straterra for about a year now. It was initially added to try to balance out some of the sedative effects of remeron, which, to an extent, it did. I was told to take it at night before bed and continue to today. What I seemed to notice and liked the most about the strattera, which is why I continued to pay for it for a year, was that I got up easier and more quickly in the morning. I have recently gotten off remeron with little negative effects and would like to do the same with strattera.

A few days in the last month, I have either missed my dose or accidentally or intentionally to see if I can drop the drug from the dose I'm at. Now, admittedly, I have not had enough days to say for certain or even compared other factors that may contribute to my experience (sleep, working out the day prior, etc), but what I think I have found is that when I do not take the strattera at night, the morning/day after I feel stone tired. Like worse than I recall being without it; maybe as bad as I was during my starting week of remeron. If I take it the next night, the next morning is fine.

Again, the number of times I've done this to compare is small (maybe 3), so it's not enough to say much of anything about, but I think there's a possibility that could be a real experience, so I wanted to get the input of others. If you've had experience with strattera and the effects and the like upon discontinuation, I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks, -BB

Sorry I don't have any experience with straterra, I thought it was mainly used for ADD. So I'll leave it for people who've had experience with the drug to answer

I just started taking it. It was definitely nice to have some energy in the morning. I'm taking Lexapro along with it. I haven't NOT taken the Strattera yet though...I would imagine that since it gave me a boost of energy the morning after I took it I could see that it would make you crash if you don't take it. It is for ADD but some people have anxiety because they actually have a non-hyper form of ADD so that's why I'm trying it...and no not many people here have experience with it. I'm not so sure it's working for me as far as attention and concentration but I love the energy and the weight loss.

It sounds like Wellbutrin is somewhat similar to Strattera..?? At least people say they use it to offset the dullness of using SSRI's prescribed for SA.

Wellbutrin has a longer half life which is probly why it's more commonly used to treat depression than other NRI/NDRI's. But whatever works best for you stick with.
