Default Buspar

Anyone here tried Buspar ( Buspiron) ?
I try to find something else that can help in the same way as bensodiazepines.

It's helpful for mild anxiety/nervous tension, but it takes several weeks before noticing the effect. It really doesn't help with panic symptoms so I would recommend something else such and klonopin or xanax for those. Buspar, in my experience, has been most useful as a maintenance medication, i.e. something to help take the edge of activation from anti-depressants.

The doctors here in Sweden do not give xanax(bensodiazepines). So I try to find help on my own.Have tried passionflower, kavakava, mulungu and much more. But still I have not find anything that help.Doctors here love ssri, snri but I have already tried that and it made me feel much more bad.I want something to take when I feel a panickattack is coming ,but I do not know what.

IMO buspar isnt much good for anxiety or panics and I wouldnt have much respect for the doc who prescribed it, benzos are best and anxiety sufferers are usually too sensible to take too many, as mentioned buspar must be atken daily for about 2 weeks before it starts to help

have you tried antihistamines, these sedate some but not others

otherwise if benzo sleeping pills are available, tell some other doc you cant sleep and get some, cut pill into quarters for daytime use
sadly many docs have been brainwashed by drug co sales people to prescribe antidepresasnts only for anxiety and yes, they often make you much worse at first

Buspar is considered to be very weak.

So nobody here thinks that Buspar have been any help?
I thought that I had found something that even a hard doctor would give as a help.

docs get huge incentives to prescribe buspar and often do, despite its poor reputation
its a case of docs learning from drug co sales reps but not from their patients

its claimed to be the non addictive alternative to valium, it isnt

I have tried a lot of different ssri, snri and Lyrica and Atarax and Lergigan .But no good.
I do not think the doctor would give any bensodiazepine at all,not even for use at night to sleep.Got propavan instead and that did not help me at all with the sleep and all day after I was tired/heavy in my head and body.No good.

Hi,

I've been on Buspar for 15 years.
This drug has taken good care of my anxiety.

Buspar works best in combination with an antidepressant.
My combo has been Buspar and Elavil.

Since two months I'm on Remeron and Wellbutrin.
Buspar can't handle the anxiety induced by Wellbutrin.

So I have switched from Buspar to Fluanxol for anxiety.
My new combination of drugs has given me a lot of energy.

Best regards,
Heuer

Wellbutrin XL 150 mg
Remeron 45 mg
Fluanxol 0,5 mg
Lyrica 25 mg (augmenting Remeron for sleep)

yeah i have been there done that, was given a high dose (200mg) last year and they did NOTHING except get me a few pounds overweight and so tired i could not get out of bed but they took a good month and a half to do that

i would rather them over Quetiapine which is what the doc gave me two years ago to combat the benzo addiction but they are even worse

honestly, if the buspar do not work, tell the doc

My doctor told me to take one( 10 mg) when I feel panickattack .That is strange because I have been reading that Buspar must be taken every day and if it will help you will notice that after some weeks. But the doctor thinks that Buspar can be used as a bensodiazepine.I wonder-what is right?

that is how I was prescribed Buspar, for occasional use. See my post above how well that turned out.
But you should def. give it a shot, as medication for SA is so individual. Whatever works for one person, won't 100% work for someone else.

But what I have been reading you must take Buspar every day and that it will take some weeks to give any effect/help.So I do not think the doctor knows about Buspar because he told me to only take sometimes. It was me that did ask him about Buspar. He will not give me any bensodiazepine at all, that is why I am trying to find some thing else that can help me.I have a really bad social anxiety, also panicky feelings and panicattacks and PTSD.I am feeling very stressed inside and nervous all the time.
So you who take Buspar do you take it every day ?

Hej: I live in Sweden also and I know what the doctors are like (the ones I've met) not willing to listen, yes benzo's should be avoided if possible.

There are doctors that will script you benzo's but there going to be private most of the time and that cost money all I can say is keep looking if the doctor told you take Buspar when you feel like a panic attack coming on then in my IMHO hasn't got a clue.

Keep looking or go private.

Ps the sleeping pill sounds like a good idea good luck.

Yes doctors in Sweden really hate bensodiazepines and will not give it a chance at all.Yes bensodiazepines can be"dangerous"but to try to live this way is not good either...I do not know any good doctor who really knows about social anxiety and panicky feelings/attacs.If someone know then please tell me.
