Default What is SAS policy on bumping topics?

The reason I ask is I've seen topics from like 2006 get bumped...

if the topic is relevant in some way, i don't see the problem.

i saw a topic get locked once because MM75 said it was too old.. which i thought was odd..

Only if it is like years old, which is what happened.

I think some threads are ok to bring back. Most of the time though I think old threads lower current threads on the page and sometimes make them go to the second page, cause some confusion, and most of all aren't relevant anymore.

For example, I saw a few threads in the past about someone having to do something in a couple days and someone will post advice about it. The problem is when you look at the original thread date, this event that was supposed to take place in two days happened two years ago, lol. So obviously, this new advice wouldn't help.

When this first started happening I didnt see a problem with it but its happened so many times now its kind of silly. Why resurrect things from three plus years ago rather than start a new thread?

When someone new does a search on a subject, they don't always look at the dates before posting to it. What you see as a dead thread they see as something pertinent to their situation. We really don't have a policy on bumping threads.

It's always strange reading a topic and then suddenly seeing your own post and only then do you realize it's an old thread.

Haha yes! You're in the middle of planning what you'd like to say, and you suddenly notice that you have said it already 2 years ago! Makes me realize how little I have actually changed.
