Default Name changes?

Are name changes permitted now?

From what I understand most name changes aren't allowed but I think I saw something about PM'ing Drew and if it's a good reason he might allow it. Course the problem becomes what does he consider a "good reason".

Ah, maybe that's why one prominent member got to change her name.

We are not allowed to change usernames.
That ability went away with the software upgrade some time ago.
Moderators can no longer do it.
We have also had to crack down and even ban people trying to get around this with multiple usernames.

Eh, I assure you, the software permits it. Read this thread to see what I mean: http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/...ins-why-68744/

No biggie, I guess... 'twas just curious.

Wow, really? I am prominent?? I had no idea.

I am really sorry that there if there is some kind of animosity about this. Precisely what Drew brought up in his response. See "alternatives to banning" thread.

The thing is I plead my case to Drew, including my personal reasons that I do not feel compelled to share with everyone, on why I wanted my name changed. I also didnt change my identity per se; everyone knows Penny is winekitty. The avatar style is the same. The post count is the same. While I may have opened the door for limited name changing, I can assure you I have no special "in" with anyone of the management team.

And if this causes Drew or any mod any static, then I am really sorry. I didnt just change my name to change; I truly had a reason.

By prominent, I meant long-term and active.

No animosity...I don't even know you. It was a legitimate question.

I could care less if you do, just want the same rights for everyone else. I'm sure you had a *really* good reason.

Some of those name changes you are referring to happened before it was prohibited. Nubly is an example of that - the veterans here know his original name.

Actually, no, that's not the case. *sigh* Forget I even brought it up.

You cared enough to post about it, and I am sorry if you feel that way. I simply stated my case that is all. If you want to plead you case the way I did, feel free to do so. I dont feel compelled to share my case with all of SAS. I have shared with Drew and a few others. I really did have a good *really* good reason. I have never changed my name in five years. And I am still not changing my *identity*. Post count and all remains the same.

And again, sorry to the mods and Drew if this causes problems.

And I know the former name of NUBLY... bwahahahaha.

This was exactly my concern with allowing name changes in certain circumstances. I even expressed this in the other thread:

The issue with this is then the policy becomes quite subjective in terms of what names changes are allowed and what aren't. The more subjectivity, the more complaints.

Here's what I'm going to do, though. I'll update the thread and let people know that the majority of name changes will not be allowed, but if one feels they have a good reason for the name change they can PM me and I'll consider it.
The reason the individual you are talking about changed her name is between me and her and anyone else she wants to tell.

If you feel you have a good reason (and yes, I understand that is subjective), then feel free to contact me.
