Default Would you get up and start dancing right now?

I'm reading this little book... ways to get over shyness =\ lol. But anyway I like it. And one of the things it says to do is before you go out just start dancing and jumping and running around be ridiculous for a few minutes. And then when you leave you will be energized and have more confidence. And it's true... I know after I've done anything physical like that I feel so much more energized and confident. So today I turned on music and I'm like, EMBARASSED! WTF. I'm alone. No one can see me. But it's hard to force myself to jump around... would you have a hard time getting up and being silly if you were alone?

Lol yes, very hard.
I guess trying so hard not to attract any attention and not make a fool out of yourself is just so ingrained it's hard to override that, even when you're 100% certain noone can see or hear you.

Lol that sounds fun,
I think I would make sure first that I'm alone and nobody is home then start dancing like crazy and then check again to see if anyone is there and dance again

me? dance? you've lost your mind!

It makes alot of sense though, and it might work to some extent. I don't have the courage for it though.

when I first started to work out. i thought dancing would be really good to do. So i started to dance but would feel comfortable and i couldn't figure out why. i kept asking myself "why the hack do i feel nervous, silly, stupid? and then i would tell myself that NO ONE can see me! and i kept telling myself that no one can see, no one can see... it took a couple of days but i got over that feeling and now i'll dance like a mad man lol but if there is someone around.. forget it. i can't dance.

I do that sometimes. It makes me feel good. It's strange how something like that gives you confidence, but it really does work

I would do it, but my back is killing me. I can hardly breathe when I move. I can see what that book is saying. It does make you more energized and maybe it will make you not take yourself so seriously for that time.

My dancing is more about enthusiam rather than skill but I dance pretty much everyday by myself. Get yourself an ipod and a good pair of headphones and your prone to bust a move.

Default I do it

I dance around just about every morning while I'm getting ready to go to work. It does help to get me going, and get me out of the door.

That's actually a really good idea. My therapist suggested something similar before. It would be really hard for me because I'm insanely uncomfortable in my own body, but I guess that's the point. I shall try it.

Oh my gosh I do this all the time, it does wonders for your self-confidence to just let loose and go crazy. It's ironic how being alone can make you more social; now i just gots to learn how to do this when people are around.
